The Aaron Vale Rein with 3 Slim Hand Grips was created in collaboration with Aaron Vale, one of America's most successful and prolific Grand Prix Show Jumping riders.
Invented to offer more comfort and stability with a unique hand-stitched rein stop. The slim stop is a smaller, more streamlined grip with less padding. The rein adjusts so the grips can be placed precisely where the horse and rider find their best connection. It improves the straight line from the bit to the elbow and encourages more relaxed arms and softer hands.
For dressage or jumping these reins provide riders of all skill levels a more comfortable and simpler way of keeping their rein length.
This rein is a training tool to help riders and horses create muscle memory that can be recalled for competition. Legal for USEF jumping competitions. Not legal for USDF/USEA and FEI dressage and Eventing Competition.
Regular reins adjust from 52" (132cm) to 58" (147cm) in 2" (5cm) increments. Want to go shorter? Plenty of room to customize!
Pony Size Reins adjust from 42" (106cm) to 48" (122cm). Great for our smaller 4 legged friends!
Hand grips are 4 inches (10cm)apart.
Lovely reins, good quality, easy to use
Made a big difference to my hand position!
I have a VERY hot PRE who only knows "go" and can't abide the notion of "whoa" (or half halts or anything at all in the way of slowing down, stopping, collection, etc). In addition, she's a heavy sweater, so between her grabbing the bit and barreling her way to the speed she prefers, add in the difficulty factor of trying to hang on to the reins when she's dripping with sweat and you have a no win situation. Until Now! Salty sweaty mare, meet the Aaron Vale reins! The first time I tried them, she lost her mare mind, even though I was doing my best to not make her claustrophobic. The second time, I saw a small modicum of what might have been...dare I say it? Respect? Hmmm..... I adore this mare at any speed, but really wanted her to show her collected side vs her race horse side, but to date I had not been able to have a good conversation with "Miss Go". She was definitely Large and In Charge. Now, for the first time ever, we are starting to connect! I think I may be seeing the beginnings of a half halt, maybe even some collection. I've never needed anything like this before and I've had numerous horses, but "Ms Go" had me stumped. I don't like "bitting up", but I was at my wits end. These reins may very well be the start of something beautiful.
I just got these reins to fix a rider issue. I have carpal tunnel and ride a mare who loves to hang on my hands and/or pull the reins out.
Also, I am gullible and she tricks me into believing I am riding with too short a rein.
My trainer and I both used them yesterday with good results. Mare got all dramatic about the contact at first but settle down. Reins were much easier for me to hold. The adjustability of the reins allowed us to lengthen them half way through. Our plan to work her into the contact and better connection.
Also they are super comfy.
I was loosing my reins when jumping to frequently.
My trainer suggested I give these a try. I now have a more consistent connection and able to allow my arms go with the flow. You do have to play around with the different lengths and might have to punch an extra hole to get the right length.
Overall great tool to help build up that muscle memory with my creepy fingers!
I love how these reins allow me to keep contact with my horse. I have only been using them for a couple of weeks and it has made a huge difference.
